The various ceramics companies: Scala, Pozzi Ginori, Tenax, Facis and Hatria started from the most classic shape of the sanitary ware (perhaps the first toilet ever produced was almost certainly oval, but then, as we have seen, they created a great many shapes: hexagonal, elliptical, square, rectangular… Here are some posts on the subject: ”Unusual shapes of toilet seats with special sizes. You’ll see a lot!”, “Sanitaryware and toilet seats in ocatgolnal and hexagolnal shapes”, “Sanitaryware rectangular shapes. Why do all toilet seats for these toilets look the same?”. In order to achieve this shape, the radius of curvature of two sides of the oval has been enlarged (by bending at both sides, the oval becomes longer).
SPAZIO series by Scala
It was a legendary vase in the ’70s and ’80s. A vase with large dimensions and an elongated oval shape. Marked by a crescent-shaped rise at the back, which, with its original toilet seat (produced by Friges, a company that has been gone for about 10 years), which had a rear bar (3-piece toilet seat), fitted perfectly into that curve, giving the idea of an incredible stylistic continuity for those years. Today, unfortunately, both the toilet bowl and the toilet seat are no longer produced. It is clear that customers who still have this type of sanitary ware in their bathrooms cannot do without the toilet seat to avoid having to replace it. This is why we have had a dedicated toilet seat made to measure for this toilet. Of course it no longer has the rear bar, so beautiful and special, but it is still perfect in terms of size and from the point of view of the curves of the toilet. The difference is in the back, where before there was the half-moon that hid the fixings, today you can see the two chrome discs that fix the toilet seat to the toilet bowl. All toilet seats are available in the various colours produced: white, champagne, black, light blue, pink… you can find them in the store at the following link [ clik HERE ]
JOIN (1st version-old type) series by Pozzi Ginori
Let’s take a big leap back in time to the early 2000s to find the sanitary ware that represented the LUX series of the Pozzi Ginori collection project, which we talked about in the post: ”Pozzi Ginori sanitaryware: the modern era series and their toilet seats. (part 1)“. Designed by Antonio Citterio
is a dimensionally important toilet. An elongated oval where the toilet seat measures 50 cm. Presented in both floor-standing and wall-hung versions, Join was considered the most luxurious line in the catalogue. Despite its large size, its tapered, slender lines made it light in space. Definitely suitable for spacious bathrooms. After the first edition, a variant was introduced in the following years, which kept the Join style in terms of size. That’s why the old type (longer) is available in the WC seats at the following link [ clik HERE ] and the new type T.N. version at the following link [ clik HERE ]
ARIETE series by Tenax
Let’s go back to the 1970s to see this Tenax sanitary ware. Large size, elongated oval (the toilet seat measures 50 cm), but regular in its proportions, in order to maintain the constant oval shape even on the back side of the toilet (otherwise cut by slight angles), the company’s designers introduced in the upper part of the top at the back a slight rise of about one centimetre to give continuity to the shape of the front (among other things it was also useful from a hygienic point of view, preventing dirt from falling behind the toilet). This peculiarity, useful and beautiful, creates right there the precise encumbrances where the toilet seat will be placed, which will have to be made to measure for this sanitary fixture. The toilet seat covers for this toilet bowl in the official colours of the time: white, champagne and blue can be found in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik HERE ]
BRENTA series by Gsi Facis
A direct competitor of Ariete was this vase produced by Facis. It follows the stylistic and conceptual line of the previous one. More tapered in the body part of the toilet and narrower in the rear part. Also this toilet seat needs very precise measurements to avoid touching the raised rear part. You can find the cover for this Facis sanitaryware at the following link the white one [ clik HERE ] and the following champagne colour link [ clik HERE ]
FISH series by Faleri Ceramiche
Let’s go back to current sanitary ware and find this sanitary ware by Faleri. The company’s designers may have been influenced by the Join project by Pozzi for the start of the design, but when the work is finished it is clear that the new series is stylistically independent. The oval design has been deliberately emphasised by playing on the differences in height of the upper surface, accentuating the lowering of the part where the toilet, in both the floor-standing and wall-hung versions, is positioned flush with the wall. In the Sintesibagno store you can find toilet seats like the original (it would be a pity to spoil such a special line of sanitary ware by fitting an adaptable toilet seat) at the following link [ clik HERE ]
SCULTURE series by Hatria
We have already encountered this fantastic sanitary ware in other posts, given its characteristics: ”BIG sanitaryware, WCs and bidets in large size, modern lines and their toilet seats (part 1)”, where we described its large size (60 cm toilet seat and 50/51 cm toilet seat) and in the post: ”HATRIA Ceramiche. Creative genius. The ceramic series of a 2.0 company”, where we said that thanks to its shape and that of its “relatives” YOU&ME, DAY-TIME and DOLCEVITA Hatria Ceramiche has made a name for itself on the market as one of the most innovative and design-oriented ceramic manufacturers. The two versions of the Sculture toilet seat, the one in white coated wood and the one in thermosetting with soft-close hinges (slow motion) can be found in the store at the following link [ clik HERE ]
