It may seem unbelievable, but many ceramic series are named after cities and geographical areas. Most of the time we do not know the real reason for this because they have been named in this way by the technical departments of the ceramics manufacturers or designers who designed them. We like to think, however, that they have been influenced in some way by the reminder of those places.
PIEMONTE series by Pozzi Ginori
One of Italy’s most beautiful regions gives its name to these historical sanitary Pozzi Ginori: Piemonte (Wikipedia). Along with the series we saw in the post: ”Pozzi Ginori sanitaryware old square models. Square, Italica and Italo duo which toilet seat cover is correct?”: ITALICA, ITALO DUO and SQUARE reigned in the market from the 70s and 80s. A line of sanitary ware with a formidable and revolutionary design in those glory years of the bathroom industry.
Piemontesina we also met in the post: ”Monobloc WCs (DUO) with ceramic cistern. What are they and are the toilet seat covers the same as those for normal WCs?” where we pointed out an important thing regarding toilet seats for this old ceramic series. EMILIA series by Vavid Ceramica
Another Italian region gives its name to these sanitary ware Vavid: Emilia (Wikipedia). A sanitary ware with a rectangular shape that made history in the 70s and 80s. Its rectangular shape is lightened by two slight curvatures on the long sides of the bowl. In its catagory it is an important figure, its direct competitors we have seen in the post: ”Old, discontinued rectangular sanitary ware. Special covers for very old shapes.(part 3)” and they were: ALFANA by Tenax, SIMETO by Simas, YURA by Kerasan and EDOS by Hatria. This toilet seat was produced in the colours champagne, mink and beaver brown in addition to white. ROMA series by Ceramica Catalano
The name of our capital city is instead the name of these sanitary Ceramica Catalano: Roma (wikipedia). Designed by a master of Made in Italy design: Matteo Thun Starting with a prominent oval outline at the top, the sanitary ware ended on a square base in the imperial style typical of ancient Roman buildings. A wall-hung series was also available, but the stylistic content, although very distinctive and recognisable, was somewhat lost.
