We have seen in many previous posts how toilet seat covers can come in many shapes. We have found geometric shapes: “The ten most popular oval shapes in sanitary ware series. Are all toilet seats the same? Do universal toilet seats fit?“ where we talked about: Ideal Standard – series PONTI Z, Ideal Standard – series LINDA, Pozzi Ginori – series FANTASIA, Ceramica Catalano – series LUCE, Ceramica Senesi – series DONATELLO, Hatria Ceramica – series ERIKA, Ceramica GLOBO – series LEI, Simas Ceramiche – series BETA and Cesame Ceramiche – series DORICA. After the oval shape, we found sanitary wares and their covers in the rectangular shape: ”Old, out-of-production rectangular sanitary ware. Special covers for very old shapes“ and we discovered the ceramic series: CONCA by Ideal Standard, VELARA by Ideal Standard, CLIO by Ceramica Globo, EBLA by Ceramica Dolomite, TERRA by Ceramica Flaminia, SPACE STONE by Ceramica Globo, FROZEN by Ceramica Simas, VERSO by Ceramica Catalano, OUTLINE by Ceramica Althea and the latest Pozzi Ginori series (Geberit) METRICA. In the post: ”Discontinued old sanitary ware models with rectangular toilet seats. (part 2)” we saw: CIOTTOLO and SPRINT by Ceramica Flaminia, FIESTA and IGEA by Ceramica Catalano, HIDRA by Hidra Ceramica, ADDA by Ceramica Facis, Series ALFANA Tenax, Series BR UNO Tenax, Series SIMETO Ceramica Simas, Series YURA Kerasan and Series EDOS Hatria (Spea Ceramiche). We then looked at the round shapes: ”Round toilets and the almost made-to-measure round toilet seat replacement!” of ceramic series: ARKE, EL1, WIND, YOU&ME, STARCK 1, FLOW TONDA, ZELIG and BOWL 50.
Today we begin to look at a category of WC covers with shaped and carved forms, designed with curves that embellish the figure and have enabled ceramic manufacturers to create very special sanitary ware series, most often in a classic/retro style.
ANTALIA series by Dolomite
We have seen in previous posts how this ceramic house: Dolomite has interpreted the trends of the bathroom furniture world in the 70s, 80s and 90s at its best. We have dedicated several posts to him because his products have in all decades (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s) regularly conquered the market and customers’ taste in an incredible way. In previous posts we have already seen: CLODIA (“Sanitary ware from the 80s and 90s. Finding the toilet seat cover”), LAGO (“Large sanitary ware (old models) and their unobtainable toilet seat covers”), RIO and FLEO (“The old Ceramiche Dolomite series”), EBLA (“Rectangular sanitary ware shapes. Why do all toilet seat covers for this toilet look the same?”), QT70 (“Sanitary ware old models out of production. Where can I find the toilet seat cover?”), PERLA and SWEET LIFE (”Narrow WCs and bidets. Measurements less than 35 cm in width. What are the toilet seat covers for these sanitary wares?“), ZELIG (”Round sanitary ware as a circle + flat element”), ANTALIA (”Classic English-style Retro sanitary ware and their toilet seats”), EPOCA (”Sanitary ware with raised top. WC covers with 45° fixing hinges (part 1)”), CHARLOTTE, ALPINA, ZAGARA (Dolomite sanitary ware old models. Let’s find the toilet seat cover (part 2)), DAHLIA, NOVELLA and NOVELLA MINI, PIANO DESIGN and GARDA (“Dolomite sanitary ware from the 1990s. Small formal revolutions that conquered the market (part 3)“) In the post: ”The latest Dolomite series and their toilet seats” we saw: series GEMMA 2, series QUARZO, Perla New and ASOLO.
An 8-shaped toilet seat cover is the hallmark of Antalia. It became a legend in the 90s and went out of production a few years ago.
The one-piece WC version was available with a ceramic cistern resting on it, and the version with a wall-recessed cistern.
Its original toilet seat with the characteristic 8 shape is clearly purchasable in the store at the following linkhas interpreted the bathroom trends of the 70s, 80s and 90s at their best. We have dedicated several posts to him because his products have in all decades (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s) regularly conquered the market and customers’ taste in an incredible way. RETRO’ series by Kerasan
Kerasan is one of the first companies established in the ceramic district of Civita Castellana. We have seen in the previous post on this company: “Kerasan sanitary ware crosses all styles of bathroom furnishing. Toilet seats in all shapes. (part 1)” how over the course of its long history, which began in the 60s, it has produced its sanitary wares in all the shapes and styles that have spanned the history of bathroom design. We have seen: THEMA, RITMO, RETRO’, NORA, BRIO and BELLINI. In the post: ”The modern Kerasan ceramic series. Made-to-measure thermoset toilet seats” we discovered and found: GODIA, FLO, PELIKAN and EGO.
If the Antalia toilet seat cover recalls the shape of the number eight, Retrò and its silhouette recall the musical instrument of the violin. On sanitary ware of this type the toilet seat must be dedicated to perfection to follow the curves that give it shape. The perfect toilet seat can be found in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik here ]
OLD TIME/SOVEREIGN series by Vitruvit
The ceramic house Vitruvit is also located in the well-known district of Civita Castellana. It is a historic company in the bathroom furnishing sector and has always stood out for the very special shapes of its sanitary ware. As we saw in the post: ”Vitruvit sanitary ware. Special and unique shapes. Custom-made toilet seats for these WCs” where we discovered the sanitary ware series: WIND, ALBANO, ALBA, YOUNG and MOBY.
This special, shaped toilet seat cover is made from two spheres of different diameters, like Retrò, but with inverted parts. Here, the larger circle is at the back of the toilet bowl and not towards the user. Old Time is a unique shape and as yet not imitated by other ceramic manufacturers. Its perfect shaped toilet seat can be found in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik here ]
EFI series by Ceramica Flaminia
The ceramic house Flaminia is now known internationally above all and thanks to the WORK in PROGRESS project we talked about in the post: ”The FLAMINIA design series. Not just WCs and bidets, but LINK, SPIN, TERRA…. and their original toilet seats.” which included such legendary series as: LINK, TERRA and SPIN. But in the course of its more than ten years of production, this company has produced series that are highly appreciated by the general public, including Efi.
Its 8-shaped toilet seat is very special, and it has a couple of features that make it unique. First peculiarity for being a shaped one is its length: it is a good 50 cm long and falls into the large size category we saw in the post: ”Large sanitary ware (old models) and their unobtainable toilet seat covers” as well as: ITALICA, GRAN SASSO, NORDICA, LAGO, SYNUA and AMICA. Secondly, its wheelbase. As we saw in the post: ”What is the wheelbase in toilet seats? (part 1)” the dimensional standard is 16 cm. Efi, on the other hand, has a wheelbase of an impressive 20/21 cm. Given its shape, dimensional and technical characteristics, it is necessary to purchase a dedicated toilet seat for perfection.
