The standard for the depth of modern sanitary ware is now 50 cm. This is an optimal size in terms of both aesthetics and function. Until a decade ago it was considered a small size, take a look at the post “Small size/dimensions toilet seat covers. Vases and toilet seat replacements” where we spoke about SMALL, BONSAI, COMPACT and YOU&ME. The reference measure for defining small was the sanitary wares produced by the various ceramic manufacturers in previous decades. In the post “Large sanitary ware toilet seats” where we talked about toilet seats that alone reached the large dimensions of 50,51,52,…cm!
Forty-five cm we believe is the smallest size that can be achieved while maintaining a “usable” user seat. Well! let’s start by discovering some ceramic series.
Space Stone 45 series Ceramica Globo
Its big sister, the Space Stone 53.36/54.36 series is one of the best sellers in the rectangular sanitary ware segment.
This series of sanitary wares produced by Ceramic Globo is currently celebrating its 20th birthday. It has recently undergone a small restyling but the original DNA has remained intact.
It was offered in both floor-standing and wall-hung versions. The toilet seat cover in the original thermoset version is only 39 cm long. It is still available (the version with soft-close hinges) in the Sintesibagno store at the following LINK (Clik HERE)
M2 45 series Ceramica Galassia
The compact version of the series designed by designer ADOLINI is 45 cm deep. It is called: M2 45.
Formally identical to its two bigger sisters (M2 55 and M2 50), the designer only reduced it in size. Mainly he gained in the rear by bringing the reduced oval very close to the rear wall.

NUVOLA series Azzurra Ceramica
A series by Ceramica Azzurra minimal and light style: Nuvola.
The company presented the series in both floor-standing and suspended versions. The two depths are 55 cm and a very compact 46 cm. You can see the technical drawing of the Azzurra MINI NUVOLA WC in the image to the side. In both sizes the body of the sanitary ware is marked by a particular depth change inclined to the side.
