We have already seen how this Civita Castellana-based company, starting in the early 2000s, established itself internationally as one of the witnesses of the best Made in Italy design by launching the Zero project “The Catalano Zero toilet seat cover. How many models are there in this series? Zero 45,50,54,55,62, Light and +“, also from that time, we discovered the SFERA project and System C developed from the first editions of SFERA (today called old) and compared it with sanitary ware in this category produced by competing ceramic companies ”The floor-standing sanitary ware is flush with the wall. Soft, wrap-around shapes. Top-mounted toilet seats are required.(expa)“. We saw in the post “Replacing a 80s/90s toilet seat cover” as LUCE series was the series of the great specifications of those years. Today we will focus on the oldest and most dated series of Catalano ceramics that were produced in the 70s and 80s.
ARGENTA series Ceramica Catalano
A typically ‘80s sanitary ware series: Argenta. A vintage-style toilet with formal peculiarities: the upper part with a double rounded and stepped design that leads the toilet seat to rest on 33.5 cm even though the width of the toilet is greater, and a very wide wheelbase (a common feature on sanitary ware produced by Catalano) of 22 cm. It was precisely of the wheelbase of toilet seats with special dimensions that we saw in the post ”Sanitary ware with oversized centre distance and their toilet covers” a standard centre distance for toilet seats is considered to be 14 to 16 cm. The toilet seat cover for this old Catalano model can be found in the Sintesibagno online store at the following link [ clik here ]
ESEDRA series Ceramica Catalano
A rectangular sanitary ware shape from the ’80s, it was called Esedra. It was the time of the first rectangular shapes in the bathroom world as we saw in the post: “Sanitary ware old, discontinued rectangular models” discovering the competition’s sanitary ware: CIOTTOLO by Flaminia, HIDRA by Hidra Ceramica and ADDA by Facis Ceramica. The foot of the sanitary ware is perfectly rectangular, like the upper part of the top, softened however by the curves on the four sides of the descent of the top towards the foot. Esedra also has a very wide centre-to-centre distance for the toilet seat (as mentioned, typical of Catalano sanitary ware production) of 20.5/21 cm. The toilet seat for this sanitary ware can be found in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik here ]
IGEA series Ceramica Catalano
Igea is a ‘70s production and in sanitary ware shapes best represents the trapezoidal geometric figure. Perhaps its convenient shape to use inspired its name (IGEA is a mythological figure signifying health). We, in the Sintesibagno team, often wondered why such a comfortable shape was not used more often in the design of sanitary ware shapes. Well that Catalano ceramics had proposed it, among other things, was much appreciated by the many customers who decided to buy it. Unlike the other sanitary wares of this Civita Castellana-based company, the fixing centre distance for the toilet seat cover has standard measurements.
