We started looking at sanitary ware best sellers in the post: ”Successful ceramic series and their imitators. Sintesibagno helps you choose the right toilet seat (part 1)” where we compared: series CONCA by Ideal Standard with series CLIO by ceramica Globo, series ANTALIA Dolomite with ANTEA Gsi Ceramica and series ZERO 54 Ceramica Catalano with AXA ONE by Uno Ceramica. We have seen the champion (the reference from where we formally started) and the most ‘fierce’ challenger (capable of perhaps beating the former clearly not in terms of time but in terms of sales or name recognition). Today we continue our search for the iconic SANITARY WARE and pursuers.
JOIN series Pozzi Ginori VS SCULTURE series Hatria
With this sanitary ware the brand Pozzi Ginori is relaunching itself on a modern level after the glories of the ’70s and ’80s and its legendary series that we saw in the post: ”Sanitary ware Pozzi Ginori old square models. Square, Italica and Italo duo which toilet seat cover is correct?” ITALICA, ITALO DUO and SQUARE. Joinis Italica’s own version 2.0, a large sanitary ware that requires a 50 cm long toilet seat cover. Its shape is more contemporary and marked by soft tapered lines. It represented the LUX series of the Pozzi Ginori collection project, which we talked about in the post: ”Pozzi Ginori sanitary ware: the series of the modern age and their WC covers. (part 1)“. Designed by Antonio Citterio is a toilet, as we said, dimensionally important. An elongated oval where the toilet seat measures 50 cm. Presented in both floor-standing flush and wall-hung versions, Join was considered the most luxurious line in the catalogue. In spite of its large dimensions, its slender line made it light in space. Definitely suitable for spacious bathroom environments. After the first edition, a variant was presented in the following years, which, while maintaining the Join style in terms of size, was reduced in size. This is why the old type (longer) version is available in the toilet seat covers at the following link [ clik here ] and the T.N. Type new version at the following link [ clik here ]
The only large-sized modern sanitary ware that has surpassed Join as a success is Sculpture by Hatria. A sanitary ware series that is stylistically innovative and truly large. We are talking about a sanitary ware as large as 60 cm. The two variants of the (a good 50/51 cm long) Sculture toilet seat, the one in white coated wood and the one in thermoset with soft-close hinges (slow motion) can be found in the store at the following link [ clik here ]
SINTESI series Cesame VS CLODIA series Ceramica Dolomite
Here we are comparing two heavyweights of the bathroom furniture industry: Sintesi and Clodia. It is not certain which of the two was inspired by the other. Two companies that in the 70s, 80s and until the end of the 90s contested the throne of leaders to Ideal Standard: CESAME and DOLOMITE. As we saw in the post: ”Sanitary ware with a sloping top and their toilet seats with shaped bumpers” these two sanitary wares were a great sales success, partly because of the novelty and, also and above all, partly because of the shape of the sanitary ware, where for the first time straight parallel sides were seen (thus abandoning the classic oval shape of sanitary ware at that time). Never before have toilet seats had to be as precise in shape as in this situation. The inclined bumpers of these toilet seats must be positioned with the utmost precision, so that the step goes exactly where it is needed and gives stability and durability to the toilet seat. Some customers know very well that if the toilet seat is not precise it will always remain unstable and break in a short time. In the store we have also selected mainly original toilet seat covers for these sanitary wares, if no longer available we have made the version like the original and in the last case the dedicated version.
Sintesi by Cesame was produced in several colours in addition to white, the main ones being certainly: amber/champagne, mink/bahama and the legendary buckskin (for an in-depth look at Cesame colours, we recommend this article – open ARTICLE). All original toilet seats and dedicated versions can be found in the Sintesibagno store at the following link [ clik here ] Clodia by Dolomite, absolutely the best seller of the ceramic manufacturer, they produced it in champagne and grey, as well as white. On this toilet, if you accept our advice, you should only fit the old original model in white polyester-coated wood (we call it old because now a thermoset version is offered that is not perfect for the Clodia step), which we managed to find from an old manufacturer and is still available in the store at the following link [ clik here ]. However, some variants are available, including the soft close version at the following link [ clik here ]
SMALL series Ideal Standard VS BONSAI series Ceramica Globo
With Small, Ideal Standard paved the way for a new generation of small, compact sanitary ware. With a total ware depth of only 50 cm, these sanitary wares became protagonists even in very small bathrooms. In the post: ”Sintesibagno® selects from its WC cover catalogue the ten SMALL sanitary wares that have made history in the category” we discovered how many other companies took the path initially traced by Ideal Standard. It was introduced to the bathroom market in the late ’90s and we can consider it the first series (perhaps better design) of small, compact designer sanitary ware. Small WCs had previously existed, but the shape was the classic oval one and they often did not have matching bidets, let alone washbasins. Here we find the whole series, and above all, born with a design spirit. The intention was to be able to create modern, designer bathrooms even in a few square metres. It was a success!
From that project sprang the more recent SMALL+, also presented with wall-hung sanitary ware. You can find the Small toilet seat cover at the following link [ clik here ] and the Small+ variant at the following link [ clik here ].
Its direct competitor became a few years later Bonsai by Ceramica Globo. The name Bonsai already hints at something very small. A special feature of this series is that it was the first to also offer a suspended version of the pot. Much attention was paid to the choice during the purchase of the toilet seat cover for the two versions of the floor-standing and wall-hung toilet. In fact this is the case that although they share the same formal DNA in terms of size, they are not even related. The toilet seat cover for the wall-hung model can be found at the following link [ clik here ] is even a full 39 cm wide, while the floor-standing toilet seat cover is only 36.2 cm and can be found at the following link [ clik here ]
